Mood swings diary

Mood swing diary

With the mood swings diary you will keep track of when, where and how your mood complaints take place. The diary is suitable for adults aged 18 and over. In many cases, there is no cause for concern if you experience a lot of mood swings for a certain period of time. It is a confirmation that you are sensitive to changes. So also for positive change. When you start working with this diary, it improves your self-reflection and self-management.

What are mood swings?

Mood swings occur when your mood changes quickly. You are happy one moment and angry or gloomy the next. Mood swings can come on suddenly for no apparent reason. But there may also be causes that you can do something about to reduce mood swings. The diary can be a first step in dealing with the mood swings.

Benefits of the diary in mood swings

Using the diary has several advantages. You register facts, behaviour, complaints or feelings on a daily basis. This way you can gain more insight into the complaints yourself or possibly together with someone else. Keeping a diary makes it easier to discover connections. So you are not going to actively change things yet. It is only about processing information that you have to deal with on a daily basis. If desired, you can change or tackle things after the registration period of four weeks. When registering in the diary, you can focus on specific goals. But that is not mandatory. Working with the diary helps with a counseling interview at home or at work, and vice versa.

The purpose of the diary is to gain insight into the complaints and to formulate a request for help.

Self-reliance and self-reflection about your mood swings

Writing stimulates self-reflection and increases self-reliance. The mood swings diary lowers the threshold for entering information that you cannot easily discuss in conversations with, for example, a practitioner, coach or general practitioner. It helps make personal conversations easier and more meaningful. If there is substance use, you can also take a test for that. Substance use has a major influence on causing mood swings.

The diary is not just keeping facts. Through the diary you work on personal leadership and self-reflection. Two indispensable skills to get a grip on the complaints.

How does the diary work?

The diary works very simply. Filling it out will take you a few minutes a day.

  1. After ordering the diary you will receive an invitation in your email from the Basis-Plan Academy. The link will give you access to the diary.
  2. You keep a diary for four weeks.
  3. Update the diary every day. The diary has a morning and an evening module.
  4. Complete the questions within two hours of getting up in the morning.
  5. At the end of the day, fill in the diary at least an hour before going to bed.
  6. After completing a day, the data of that day can no longer be changed.
  7. If you want, you can directly download, save or print the results per day. But that is also possible at the end of a week or when your entire period is completed.
  8. After the end of the four-week period, the diary is closed one month later and all data is deleted.
